FAQs

IBtrol was developed to help manage the symptoms of IBS, inclusive of diarrhea, constipation associated with IBS, occasional gas and bloating, and abdominal discomfort. You can use this product if you have been diagnosed with IBS by a health professional or if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. IBtrol is safe for long term use. Our serving recommendations are for adults 18 and older, so consult your primary care provider if you plan to use the product with children over 4.

IBtrol should not be used by children under 4 years old, anyone with swallowing difficulties; colonic atony; fecal impaction; intestinal obstruction; reduced gut motility; sudden change in bowel habit that has persisted more than two weeks (without prior medical review); undiagnosed rectal bleeding. We always recommend reviewing use with your healthcare team when starting a new supplement.

Mix one scoop of IBtrol with 8oz (240mls) of water, stir briskly and drink straight away to prevent gelling.

Take IBtrol twice per day but leave 8 hours between each serving.

Due to the high fiber content of IBtrol it may lead to feeling too full if taken after a large meal. There is no requirement to take it with food and it may be better to take it half an hour before a meal so that it does not reduce appetite and food intake.

As with all changes to dietary fiber intake it takes a few days for your gut to adjust to the fiber in our supplement. We have recommended that you start with one scoop per day for the first 7 days then increase to two scoops per day to help your gut to adapt more easily.

This will vary depending on if you have diarrhea or constipation to begin with. Those with diarrhea may notice relief in as little as 7 days while it can take slightly longer with constipation. It is important to be consistent with taking IBtrol regularly in the morning and evening. We recommend taking IBtrol daily for 30 days.

Don’t worry if you do forget, just take your next IBtrol drink as normal, do not double the amount you take at this time.

If you take a break from IBtrol you can start again at any time. IBtrol is safe for long term use.

IBtrol can be combined with other dietary measures for managing IBS such as the low FODMAP diet or first line dietary advice for managing IBS. It may help the low FODMAP diet to be more effective and can help to prevent the drop in fiber and detrimental effect on the gut microbiome that the low FODMAP diet causes. As we have used a precise dose of probiotics for IBS you should discontinue other probiotics when you start IBtrol to avoid any interaction that could lead to symptoms. IBtrol can be taken alongside your normal medication. We always recommend reviewing use with your healthcare team when starting a new supplement.

Store in a cool dry place, can be refrigerated. Do not remove the pillow pack sachet.

IBtrol is suitable with lactose intolerance, there is a small amount of residual lactose in the product from the prebiotic but this is less than 0.4g of lactose per serving.

IBtrol is vegetarian but the prebiotic has been made through enzymatic action on lactose (milk sugar) so it is not suitable for those following a vegan diet.

IBtrol is naturally gluten free.

IBtrol contains psyllium husk, which is a soluble fiber that gels when mixed with water. This is important as the soluble fiber helps normalize your bowels; however to avoid the product becoming too thick to drink, use the recommended one scoop portion with a full 8oz of water and drink it straight away to avoid it gelling in your glass.

IBtrol is for the management of IBS symptoms such as bloating, excess gas, abdominal pain and irregular bowel habits, which could tend towards diarrhea, constipation or both. Banatrol is optimal for the management of loose bowel movements and diarrhea, this may be present with or without pain, gas and bloating.

There are no listed drug interactions with any of the ingredients in IBtrol. We always recommend reviewing use with your healthcare team when starting a new supplement.

All the ingredients in IBtrol can be taken alongside the low FODMAP diet, the fiber in IBtrol may help prevent constipation and the probiotic helps reduce the negative impact of the low FODMAP diet on the gut microbiota. The prebiotic in IBtrol has been tested alongside the low FODMAP diet and enhanced the effectiveness of it.
